Probiotics are awesome! The best I've found are from a company called Grainfields Australia (AGM Foods). I managed a health food store several years ago and my co-manager was a CNHHCP. He was into the Weston A. Price movement, knew SO much about wellness. We had a customer who was getting the B.E. Wholegrain liquid I think it was - a 4pack case of 2 litre bottles for his dad who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The guy actually cleared his cancer with this stuff along with making dietary changes. It was pretty darn amazing.

My mom turned me onto a product that can be obtained at places like walmart. We don't have a lot of diversity in the area I live now, so good products aren't readily available unless one buys them online. At any rate, there is a super greens drink powder mix that has probiotics in it along with a lot of antioxidants. I just drink it with water but it would make a great smoothie. https://countryfarms.com/our-products/super-greens-drink-mix

I personally have felt the energetic effects of probiotics at various times in my life. In a jiffy if I feel like I'm getting a cold or run down, I get a bottle of GT's Kombucha. As far as mental health goes, there have been times where I've felt candida in my body before it gets to a physical manifestation such as thrush or something of that nature. Years ago when I was nursing my son, we had thrush and it really effected my mood. I felt depressed, lethargic, achy, etc. First started taking them then. Probiotics *really* have helped me so many times on many levels.

I found you on the Mad in America site and am living with someone who's considering reducing her meds. My heart goes out to you in your harrowing journey through iatrogenic injury and medication dependence. Also, I'm in awe that a holistic doctor would prescribe benzos. Shame on him, he should have known better. Maybe he's just misinformed. Thank you so much for your time writing the mad in america article and being part of the fight to raise awareness of what's going on with these harmful meds!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and probiotic info! Wishing your partner all the best whatever she chooses.
Do your research and take it slow! Something I did not know to do.... That's the key.
Thanks for writing and reading!
